The mission of Casa for Children of DC is to connect every court-involved youth in DC with the one-on-one support of a consistent adult figure who can advocate for their best interests and promote positive outcomes. Foster youth who have experienced the traumas of abuse and neglect are impacted. They face lower academic achievement and increased risk of future unemployment, homelessness, and high-risk behavior. Court appointed special advocates seek to mitigate this through positive engagement and best interest advocacy. Casa DC recruits, trains and supervises volunteers from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds to advocate for court-involved youths' best interests and to promote their opportunities to thrive.
