About this organization
Mission
The mission of the substance use and mental health leadership council of RI is to promote a collaborative, coordinated system of high quality, comprehensive community-based mental health and substance abuse prevention and treatment services.
About
In May 2018 the executive office of health and human services and the RI department of behavioral health developmental disabilities and hospitals contracted with John Snow, Inc., the substance use and mental health leadership council of RI and Rhode Island College to transform the behavioral health workforce. The foundation of this project was the behavioral health workforce needs assessment, a synthesis of findings from studies and interviews throughout the state, and a workforce development plan to guide implementation and collaboration with other initiatives. The goals of the project were to: strengthen the existing workforce; reducing fragmentation; build consensus over contextually appropriate and effective interventions; provide guidance on measurement and evaluation of workforce development initiatives; and build sustainable approaches to workforce development. The project ended on June 30, 2019.
