To educate Jewish children with the religious beliefs and practices of conservative Judaism.

About

The Solomon Schechter School of Queens is the only conservative Jewish day school in Queens. Our student body is approximately 300 students. Many of our students receive tuition assistance. The school has won many prestigious awards for our Hebrew and general studies curricula. Our students have won prizes in the NYC Board of Education science fair having competed successfully with the best and brightest students in the public schools. Our 8th grade graduates are accepted by the finest Jewish, secular and specialized NYC high schools. Our students achieve above-average standardized test scores. Our school has a comprehensive library collection of Judaic and general studies books enhanced by online computers. Several of our teachers have been the recipients of the Gruss award for excellence in the teaching of Judaic studies. We have state of the art math, science and computer labs with up to date, hands-on programs in each. Our school has received the National Solomon Schechter award for excellence in Judaic studies. Our school uses the Tal Sela, Tal-Am and Neta Hebrew language program, a highly acclaimed, advanced, and sophisticated Hebrew language program. The Solomon Schechter School has worked with the Melton Research Center of JTS, from its inception, on a comprehensive and age appropriate Chumash curriculum. Over the years, our students have won numerous awards for contests sponsored by Board of Jewish Education, Hebrew spelling bee, essay contest on Zionism, Bible contest, etc. We employ a full time psychologist and a nurse. We have after school music, art and sports clubs.
