Mission

Founded in New York City in 1966, the mission of the Paul Taylor Dance Foundation is to cultivate, promote and encourage understanding of and public interest in the arts through performances of the choreographic work of Paul Taylor. In 2014, the Foundation expanded its mission with the launch of Paul Taylor American Modern Dance, building upon the past to transform the Foundation into an institutional center for American modern dance. Mission: To become a place where the upcoming generation of contemporary choreographers is nurtured and showcased, where the masterwork of the genre's great pioneers is preserved and presented, and where the American modern dance idiom is presented to large audiences to be experienced and celebrated.

About

Creation of new works by multiple choreographers in 2018-19, the Taylor Company created two new dance works by prominent choreographers selected by Paul Taylor: Pam Tanowitz and Margie Gillis. Each choreographer spent approximately six weeks with the Paul Taylor Dance Company, setting the works. Both pieces premiered at the Bach Festival, presented by the Orchestra of St. Lukes at Manhattan School's Neidorff-Karpati Hall in June of 2019.
