Mission
Founded in 1978 by executive director Madaha Kinsey-Lamb, the mission of Mind-Builders is to inspire the growth of local youth and families in the northeast bronx through highquality arts programming. More than just an arts center, Mind-Builders brings together best practices in arts education, youth development, and community engagement in the belief that a healthy community is a vital ingredient in the healthy development of a child. Our peer-supported learning culture is a critical resource for local youth with few other options for cultural enrichment. All of our programs are free or low-cost, and no one is ever turned away for an inability to pay.

Dance & music program - beginner through advanced level students ages 3 to adult study modern/jazz, tap, ballet, hip-hop, african dance forms and musical theater training in addition to private or group lessons in various instruments children, teens, and adults come to mind-builders from the surrounding neighborhood and borough, and in some instances from boroughs of new york city or the broader metropolitan area. More than 700 students attended over 190 classes weekly in addition to performances and educational presentations for more than 2,000 audience members and school groups.
