Promotion of chamber music concerts to the general public.

About

Since 1984, the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival has brought the very best of chamber music to Long Island's East End. From a pair of concerts over a single weekend, to a series of concerts over 5 weeks in the summer as well as a series of concerts each spring, BCMF has become one of the country's most highly regarded chamber music organizations. Each year, some of the world's finest chamber musicians gather in Bridgehampton to create unique musical experiences. BCMF has been lauded for its innovative programming, and has a long history of commissioning new works. The 2019 festival included 12 concerts that ran from July 21 through August 18. The 'Winds of Change' theme brought wind instruments and music by 13 women center stage. The works by women composers on the festival schedule range from Louise Farrenc's Sextet for Wind Quintet and Piano (1851-2), Amy Beach's Dreaming for solo piano (1892), and two works by Lili Boulanger for flute and piano written in 1911 and 1918, to music written since the turn of this century, including Missy Mazzoli's Death Valley Junction (2010) for string quartet, Victoria Kelly's Good Night Kiwi (2004) for solo piano, and Reena Esmail's Saans (Breath) (2010) for piano trio.
