Mission

Hope envisions career paths for New Yorkers who are working to overcome systemic and other barriers: racism in hiring, health disparities, criminal legal system involvement, and the persistent digital divide. With access to holistic support and sustainable careers, our graduates disrupt cycles of inequity and injustice. Hope is a community-based organization that works directly within our surrounding neighborhood. Through our workforce development, we invest in families and historically low-income communities. Today, while our city is experiencing a perceived labor shortage, there is a mismatch between the skills required by employers and those held by low-income jobseekers, which Hope works to address.

About

Comprehensive training: Hope empowers New Yorkers to build sustainable futures through comprehensive training, jobs, advancement and lifelong career support. Hope focuses on jobseekers with significant barriers to employment, including histories of criminal justice involvement, substance abuse, homelessness, low educational attainment and others. Across two programs, Hopeworks for general careers and Foodworks for food sector careers, Hope's training offers a full-time structure, mirrored after the workforce; literacy and math classes; computer training; financial literacy; resume-writing and interview skills workshops; certifications; daily meals; professional clothing; introductions to employers and other supports. Hope also embeds mental health awareness, screenings, and referrals across all programs.
