Mission

Mission: Care for the Homeless fights homelessness by delivering high-quality and client-centered healthcare, human services and shelter to homeless individuals and families, and by advocating for policies to ameliorate, prevent and end homelessness. Vision Statement: Care for the Homeless is committed to ending homelessness by providing direct services for homeless single adults and families, by conducting public education, research, and analysis of model programs and practices that create permanent housing opportunities, and by shaping policies to prevent future homelessness.

About

In 2018, CFH provided services to more than 7,000 homeless men, women and children with comprehensive, high quality health care, social services and health education. There were more than 36,000 encounters at 24 sites, including homeless family residences, single adult shelters, soup kitchens, and drop-in centers. Our core services include: primary care, mental health, substance abuse treatment, dental, and podiatry. In 2018 services were expanded to include vision screenings for homeless children and families. CFH also actively advocates for positive change in health care and housing policies to address the barriers to care and to acquiring adequate housing, which ultimately reduces the cost and impact of homelessness in NYC.
