About
Programs for the year included A Living LibraryGarden/Ecology/Multi-Arts/Literacy/Nutrition Programs for children and youth atmultiple Branch Living Library & Think Park sites in San Francisco and New York Cityworking with students during the school day, after school and summer with continued development and master planning of our various Branch Living Library & Think Park sites in each community: OMI/Excelsior and Bernal Heights in San Francisco and Roosevelt Island in New York City. This year we also continued to develop and expand the prototype Bernal Heights Living Library & Think Park Nature Walk at the OMI/Excelsior Branch by developing new California Native Learning Zones in the Rear Yard of James Denman Middle School with students, neighbors and other volunteers. We envision that the Nature Walk as prototype for the whole Islais Creek Watershed, the largest in San Francisco, can be expanded eventually to interconnect the eleven communities of the Watershed. Next year we will be transforming Seneca Avenue adjacent to the four public schools in the OMI/Excelsior Branch site that will further support this effort. Additionally, A Living Library was exhibited internationally in Venice, Italy and Reno, Nevada. We also reached out to other cities in the US, and other parts of the world, to establish unique place-based, Branch Living Library & Think Parks.
