Clinic operations: In 2018, our 14th year of operation, 4 transport partner organizations (non-profit rescues, shelters and dog wardens) across 3 counties in Northeast Ohio invited us into their communities, secured suitable locations, advertised our services, scheduled clients and collected fees. In addition to transport partners, PetFix worked closely with more than 35 different shelters, rescues and community cat organizations to offer them affordable spay/neuter services for animals in their care. During the 252 days, our clinic performed 7,989 surgeries, including 2,109 cat neuters, 2,380 cat spays, 1,781 dog neuters, and 1,719 dog spays. In order to maintain the barrier between animals and humans, we vaccinate every cat and dog altered in our clinic that has not previously been immunized, resulting in our administration of 5,651 rabies vaccinations during 2018. Since our operations commenced in December 2005, PetFix has altered 71,182 cats and dogs. Our goals for 2018 and beyond are to expand our surgical capacity by having two veterinary teams working 5 days a week, focusing on outreach to under-served communities, and more effectively measuring our efforts through better data collection from the community.
