IN 2018, BY INVESTING $555 A CLIENT, FAMILIESFORWARD'S FOUR OUTCOMES OF CONFIDENT AND CAPABLE CHILDREN; STRONG, NURTURING, INVOLVED FAMILIES; SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS; AND ENGAGED, ACTIVE AND SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITIES WERE SUCCESSFULLY DEMONSTRATED THROUGH THE 2,570 CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES RECEIVING DIRECT SERVICES FROM US.THE AGENCY WAS RE-ACCREDITED FOR THE SEVENTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR BY THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU OF CINCINNATI UNDER ITS PROGRAM FOR CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS.FAMILIESFORWARD SERVED MORE THAN 354 STUDENTS IN OUR AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM AND OUR SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS .THE GRADE-PROMOTION RATE AT THE FOUR SCHOOLS SERVED BY OUR AGENCY WAS 90% IN 2018.THE THREE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS THAT WE SERVE REPORTED ATTENDANCE RATES FROM 88% TO 90% IN 2017-2018 ACADEMIC YEAR DOWN SLIGHTLY DUE TO CHANGES BY THE STATE IN CALCULATING ATTENDANCE BY THE HOUR WHICH TAKES INTO CONSIDERATION LATE ARRIVALS AS PART DAY.THE CLASS OF 2018 AT WITHROW UNIVERSITY HIGH SCHOOL HAD A 76.2% GRADUATION RATE, EIGHTH-HIGHEST AMONG CINCINNATI PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOLS. OUR STAFF MEMBERS IDENTIFY STUDENTS WHO ARE MOST AT RISK OF FAILURE AND PLACE THEM WITH TUTORS OR IN OUR HOMEWORK HELP PROGRAM TO HELP STUDENTS GET THE HELP THAT THEY NEED. THIS ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTION HELPS STUDENTS WITH INCREASED READING PROFICIENCY AS MEASURED BY THE STANDARDIZED STATE OF OHIO READING TEST. HAYS PORTER SCHOOL HAD THE HIGHEST PASSAGE RATE AMONG CINCINNATI PUBLIC NEIGHBORHOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AT MORE THAN 80% DURING THE FALL 2018 ADMINISTRATION OF THE 3RD GRADE READING GUARANTEE.ALL FOUR OF FAMILIESFORWARD SUCCESSFULLY RETAINED CHILD-CARE CENTER LICENSES FOR BOND HILL, WITHROW, HAYS PORTER AND CARSON FOR SIX OR MORE YEARS FROM THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF JOB AND FAMILY SERVICES. HAVING THE LICENSES ALLOWS US TO APPLY FOR MORE GRANTS, SUCH AS THE 21ST CENTURY COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTERS PROGRAM. IN A HIGHLY COMPETITIVE PROCESS, WE RECEIVED A RENEWAL FOR 21CCLC GRANT FOR CARSON IN 2017-2018 AT HAYS PORTER SCHOOL , WHICH PROVIDED TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT IN THE AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM FOR A TOTAL OF 100 STUDENTS. FAMILIESFORWARD RECEIVED A FIRST TIME COMMUNITY CONNECTORS GRANT IN 2018 WHICH ENABLED US TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE STEM SERVICES INCLUDING ROBOTICS AND MENTORSHIPS FOR APPROXIMATELY 12 STUDENTS AT BOND HILL MATH AND SCIENCE DISCOVERY ACADEMY. WE COORDINATE VOLUNTEERS AT ALL OF OUR SCHOOLS. IN 2018, 131 VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTED 4,975 HOURS OF THEIR TIME TO HELP US FULFILL OUR MISSION. IN ADDITION, 235WITHROW STUDENTS LOGGED IN 6,233 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE. WE HAD 30 PEOPLE VOLUNTEER MORE THAN 235 HOURS IN THE ANNUAL FAMILIESFORWARD ADOPT A CHILD CAMPAIGN WHICH PROVIDED HOLIDAY GIFTS TO MORE THAN 900 STUDENTS IN THREE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.FAMILIESFORWARD MAINTAINED ITS "ACCREDITED CHARITY" STATUS FROM THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU FOR THE SEVENTH CONSECUTIVE YEARA RIGOROUS PROGRAM FOR ACCREDITING NONPROFITS.
