About this organization
Mission
The Southside Family Charter School (SFCS) is a small, K-8 school that meets the needs of a culturally and ethnically diverse population by engaging children in critical thinking and problem solving, involving children in political and social activism, encouraging creative expression, offering a wide range of electives and advocating for children and families.
About
Social Justice Education: this is the central mission of our organization and at the core of everything we do. Noteworthy, is the number of artistic, curricular, and extracurricular activities that are tied to the School's social justice mission. SFCS integrates the mission into every aspect of the School's curriculum and approach. SFCS continues to provide numerous opportunities for artistic and creative expression as well. These opportunities are central to the School's educational delivery model and, as noted above, are integrated with the School's mission. The results from the spring school climate surveys indicate that the three major stakeholder groups are experiencing a positive school climate and educational experience. SFCS has a staff that remains committed to the school with little staff or student turnover. The Minnesota Department of Education recognized Southside Family Charter School as a Celebration Eligible School. Social justice education is all-encompassing and expenses and revenue reflect that.
