Adoption-Happily Ever After's (HEA) adoption program noticed significant growth during 2018. In total 480 dogs and cats found their forever families through HEA. This represents a 40% increase over 2017. This growth was possible because of the prior year's success in combination with strengthened shelter & foster partner relationships in areas where dogs and cats face a much-higher likelihood of being euthanized. HEA also continued to place emphasis on process improvement related to our adoption approval process while maintaining high standards when identifying forever homes. We believe it is our responsibility to assure that once a dog or cat leaves our care that they have found a forever family to avoid future returns and the recurring use of companion animal welfare resources.
