- Fanari currently offers the following programs, as can also be seeing also at the corporate website at http://www.fanariacademy.org/:apollonas:apollonas is a track designed for children that have none or limited exposure to the greek language. classes are taught in a mixture of greek and english to assist the child in learning the new language. classes meet twice a week for two hours (or one and a half hour for pre-kinder garden) each time. artemi: artemi is a track designed for children that can speak and understand enough greek to be able to participate in a greek taught environment. the primary focus is enhancing the child's greek vocabulary as well as teaching proper grammar and syntax. classes meet twice a week for two hours (or one and a half hour for pre-kinder garden) each time. adult course:fanari is happy to announce that due to its popularity, it will be offering two levels of adult courses.* beginning greek will cover the alphabet, vowel and consonant diphthongs, present and past tense of the verbs "ego eimai" (i am) and "ego exo" (i have), numbers, days of the week, months of the year, time, and a variety of vocabulary including "in the classroom", "at the post office", and "at the farmer's market".* advance and intermediate greek will review all topics above as well as move into more complex conjugations including the present perfect, subjunctive, past perfect, simple past, simple future, simple continuous, past continuous, etc. they will review the personal and possessive pronouns and the conjugation of common nouns and adjectives. expansion of vocabulary and 15-20 minutes of conversation are also planned for this course.preparation for the examination for the certificates of attainment in greek:this program prepares the student to take the exam of the greek language given by the greek ministry of education. a certificate is issued for successful candidates at four levels, a, b, c and d. the examination covers all four language skills; listening comprehension, reading comprehension, essay writing and speaking. the student must be at least 12 years old for level a and b and 15 years old for c and d. more information about the certificates can be found here. class activities include conversation in everyday situations, essay writing, listening to various news reports, and reading articles/advertisements from newspapers/internet. the school served 110 students during the fiscal year.
