Disaster relief: Alaska: Nome Covenant Church and Youth Center with remodeling a facility to house a new youth facility, a place for kids to gather. 7 volunteers served in the Nome Covenant Church where work continued on a youth facility in the second floor of the church building. An emergency stair was installed and windows and trim were installed. Florida: SHM staff and volunteers spent 4 months in Everglade City, Florida assisting families and elderly people repair homes from damage from Hurricane Irma. 165 volunteers gave 6,679 hours of time on this project. This project was completed in 2018. North Carolina: SHM staff and volunteers travelled to Bern, North Carolina to assist families with repairs to homes damaged by Hurricane Florence. 27 volunteers gave 866 hours of time during a two and one-half month period. This project continued through April 2019.
