About this organization
Mission
The Second Step (TSS) is a community of survivors, advocates, and volunteers who foster the safety, stability, and well-being of those who have experienced domestic violence. We provide comprehensive services, including safety planning, legal advocacy, counseling, peer support, transitional housing, and other essential services to adults, youth, and children in Greater Boston and MetroWest.
About
Residential programs: TSS operates two residences, in which client families who come to us from the instability of short-term stays in emergency shelters may stay for up to two years. During that time, they have access to extensive case management, advocacy, and comprehensive services for themselves and their children. These services include - but are not limited to - personal and professional development, supportive and psycho-educational groups, family nurturing and stabilization services, assistance with the housing search process, financial and health literacy education, and referrals to other agencies, services, and systems as appropriate.
