Mission

Philadelphia Theatre Company is dedicated to presenting the Philadelphia and world premieres of major works by contemporary playwrights with an emphasis on American drama. We seek to develop an audience of open-minded theatre-goers across cultural, ethnic, and social lines by producing drama that is at once challenging, entertaining and imaginatively staged.

About

Historically, Philadelphia Theatre Company (PTC) has produced four to five mainstage productions of plays and musicals that represent the diverse range of contemporary American theatre. In FY2018 under new executive leadership, PTC paused this model for one year to facilitate an organizational restructure and reduce debt. Instead of producing its own work, PTC presented ten different productions that served as market research and were also meant to develop new audiences for PTC's future. During this year, PTC was also able to develop its venue rental model into a robust revenue stream that would bolster the organization's stability for future years. PTC continued to serve the community by expanding its participation in ticketing initiatives for under-served local communities. It also broadened its accessibility programming by adding relaxed performances for those living on the autism spectrum to its long-standing audio-described and open-captioning programs.
