Natural Lands is a non-profit organization that saves open space, cares for nature, and connects people to the outdoors in eastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. We’ve been at it since the early 1950s and, today, nearly five million people live within five miles of lands under our permanent protection. Saving Open Space At Natural Lands, when we save open space we do so in a forever-and-ever-never-gonna-be-developed way. Sometimes we buy land. Sometimes we put a permanent, legal restriction on it. Sometimes we help other non-profits with their open space goals. Caring for Nature You know that old adage “let nature take its course”? We disagree. Natural areas need help to become—and remain—places where people, plants, and wildlife can thrive. That's why a full third of our staff are committed to caring for our properties.
