Mission

Dreaming Out Loud, Inc. works to create economic opportunity for marginalized communities through building a healthy, equitable food system in the Washington, DC metropolitan region. We are rebuilding urban, community-based food systems through social enterprise, helping to increase access to healthy food and improve community health, develop low-income entrepreneurs and cooperatives, and train at-risk adults residents for sustainable, family-supporting wages.

About

Our community markets are the foundation of our work to build a healthier food system in marginalized neighborhoods of DC, specifically wards 6, 7, and 8. Since we started our markets 5 years ago, DOL has connected more than 40,000 customers to local, seasonal, affordable vegetables, fruits, and other food products. With the help of our partners, we offer nutrition and environmental education, highlight community musicians, and promote fitness and active living.
