2019 Major AccomplishmentsWe served We served 4,412 individuals directly in the form of professional development training or other community educational programming.We estimate that 97,899 individuals were served indirectly as a result. We gave full or partial scholarships for our training programs to 54 people, at a total value of $31,973.Beat the Odds trainings:Jan. 23 For Turnaround Arts Regional Coach Partners.Jan. 26 UCLArts & Healing BTO training (20+ people).Feb. 2 For Des Moines Public Schools - Elementary, Middle, High School Teachers of English as Second Language Classes.May 4 UCLArts & Healing BTO training (30 people).June 14 For Turnaround Arts Regional Coach Partners from San Diego, plus faculty from Florence Griffith Joyner Elementary School, which is a Turnaround Arts school that was hosting the training.June 26 For Turnaround Arts Annual Summer Retreat.June 28 For Mid-Atlantic Play Therapy Institute annual conference in Virginia.Aug. 16 For Tweedy Elementary School, which is a Turnaround Arts school in Southgate.Sept. 5 For Monterey Peninsula Unified School District two back to back trainings for district personnel (counselors and teachers).Sept. 17 Start of Year 2 implementation and evaluation of Beat the Odds at Willard Intermediate School for all 6th graders, with 7th and 8th grade assistants.Oct. 5 UCLArts & Healing BTO training (30 people representing all kinds of professions Kaiser Permanente mental health professionals to Zamboni Middle school counselors).Oct. 26 Launching of first online training program in Beat the Odds. Managed to create a meaningful and interactive training that participants reported was engaging and effective. Feedback was spectacular! All 5s across the board except for t2o 4s from people who had a little difficulty with the internet.
