VCP PARTNERS WITH MORE THAN 90 SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE HANDS-ON CULINARY AND NUTRITION EDUCATION TO MORE THAN 20,000 PARTICIPANTS ANNUALLY IN THE PHILADELPHIA AND CAMDEN, NJ AREA. VCP WORKS WITH CHILDREN AND ADULTS WHO ARE EAGER TO IMPROVE THEIR HEALTH BY LEARNING HOW TO COOK. VCP'S IN-SCHOOL PROGRAM (EAT360) AND OUT-OF-SCHOOL-TIME PROGRAMS (VETRI COOKING LAB AND MY DAUGHTER'S KITCHEN) TEACH STUDENTS ABOUT REAL FOOD - WHERE TO GET IT, HOW TO COOK IT AND WHY IT'S IMPORTANT TO THEIR HEALTH AND WELLBEING. VCP ALSO BRINGS ITS HANDS-ON COOKING DEMONSTRATIONS AND NUTRITION EDUCATION TO THE COMMUNITY BY WAY OF ITS MOBILE TEACHING KITCHEN AND CULINARY MEDICINE CLASSES. SEE SCHEDULE O FOR CONTINUATION.EAT360 - A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO SCHOOL WELLNESS, THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES DIRECT EDUCATION IN THE CLASSROOM AND OUTREACH TO THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY, AT LARGE. STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN HANDS-ON COOKING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE TASTINGS OF FRESH VEGETABLES IN THE LUNCHROOM. IN 2019, VCP'S EAT360 PROGRAM PROVIDED DIRECT-EDUCATION TO 7,233 STUDENTS AND 552 ADULT PARTICIPANTS, AND CONTACTED 9,000 PEOPLE THROUGH FOOD SAMPLINGS AND ACTIVITES SUPPORTING SCHOOL NUTRITION POLICY, SYSTEMS AND ENVIRONMENT.VETRI COOKING LAB - AN OUT-OF-SCHOOL-TIME PROGRAM THAT COMBINES COOKING, NUTRITION EDUCATION, AND STEAM (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, ARTS, AND MATH) CORE CONCEPTS TO TRAIN A GENERATION OF EDUCATED FOOD CONSUMERS. VETRI COOKING LAB EDUCATORS LED CLASSES AT 62 SITES, REACHING MORE THAN 900 STUDENTS OVER TWO 10-WEEK SEMESTERS, AND ENGAGED MORE THAN 90 VOLUNTEERS.MOBILE TEACHING KITCHEN - A MODIFIED FOOD TRUCK CARRYING EVERYTHING NEEDED FOR POP-UP COOKING CLASSES AND DEMONSTRATIONS AT SCHOOLS, COMMUNITY EVENTS, FARMERS MARKETS AND MORE. VCP EDUCATORS INVITE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES TO PARTICIPATE IN HANDS-ON COOKING DEMONSTRATIONS AND WORKSHOPS WHERE THEY LEARN BASIC COOKING SKILLS THEY CAN USE TO MAKE HEALTHY DISHES AT HOME. IN 2019, THE PROGRAM PARTNERED WITH 14 ORGANIZATIONS, AND CONDUCTED 384 PROGRAMMING VISITS WITH MORE THAN 23,000 PARTICIPANTS. MY DAUGHTER'S KITCHEN - THIS EIGHT-WEEK AFTER SCHOOL COOKING CLUB IS VOLUNTEER-TAUGHT AND WORKS WITH STUDENTS TO CREATE A HOME-COOKED, FAMILY-STYLE DINNER EACH WEEK OF THE SEMESTER. THE PROGRAM FOCUSES ON TEAMWORK, MENTORING AND CULINARY & NUTRITION EDUCATION. IN 2019, THE PROGRAM GRADUATED 350 STUDENTS. VCP'S MY DAUGHTER'S KITCHEN PROGRAM WAS DISCONTINUED IN JUNE 2019 IN ORDER FOR VCP TO CONCENTRATE ITS EFFORTS ON THE GROWTH OF VETRI COOKING LAB. CULINARY MEDICINE - PARTNERING WITH LOCAL MEDICAL SCHOOLS AND HEALTHCARE FACILITIES, VCP PROVIDES DIRECT CULINARY EDUCATION TO MEDICAL STUDENTS AS WELL AS PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES, TO SHOW HOW HEALTH CAN BE BETTER MANAGED THROUGH NUTRITION. IN 2019, VCP ESTABLISHED ONGOING PARTNERSHIPS WITH 5 LOCAL MEDICAL CENTERS, AND WORKED WITH MEDICAL STUDENTS, HEALTH PRACTIONERS, AND PATIENTS TO ADDRESS SPECIFIC HEALTH CONCERNS BY BUILDING COOKING SKILLS AND CREATING NUTRITIOUS RECIPES.
