The Louis Armstrong House Museum (LAHM) sustains and promotes the cultural, historical, and humanitarian legacy of Louis Armstrong by preserving and interpreting Armstrong’s house and grounds, collecting and sharing archival materials that document Armstrong’s life and legacy, developing programs for the public that educate and inspire, and engaging with contemporary artists to create performances and new works.
About
Research collections acquisition, preservation and access to the world's largest research archives for any jazz musician. Comprises twelve major research collections. All the collections have been digitized and accessible 24 hours a day from anywhere in the world, through our website. The research collections are curated by a full-time director, who is a leading authority on Armstrong assisted by a manager who is professionally trained archivist. The collections are used by students, scholars, jazz fans, record companies, radio and television producers, and many others. The research collections staff answers hundreds of reference questions world-wide. In FY2019 LAHM launched its Armstrong Now initiative with the aim of inviting contemporary artists and innovators to respond to its collections.
