LASOS, INC.'S VISION IS TO PROVIDE ALL THE RESOURCES NEEDED BY NON ENGLISH SPEAKING RESIDENTS TO SUPPORT INTERGRATION INTO THE AMERICAN SOCIETY. IN TURN, THE RESIDENTS WILL BE EMPOWERED TO CONTRIBUTE AND COMMUNICATE MORE EFFECTIVELY IN THEIR FAMILIES, WORK PLACES, AND COMMUNITIES.

YOUTH MENTORING - OUR YOUTH MENTORING PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS PREK-12TH GRADE, WITH SERVICE SITES IN BEL AIR, EDGEWOOD, JOPPA AND ABERDEEN COMMUNITIES. THE BEL AIR SITE IS LOCATED AT OUR OFFICE AND SERVES ABOUT 40 PREK-12TH GRADE CHILDREN PER WEEK. THE ABERDEEN LOCATION IS AT HARFORD COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY IN ABERDEEN AND SERVES ABOUT 30 PREK-12TH GRADE CHILDREN PER WEEK. THE EDGEWOOD LOCATION IS IN COMMUNITY ACTION CENTER ANNEX AND SERVES ABOUT 30 PRE K-12TH GRADE CHILDREN PER WEEK. THE PROGRAM INVITES STUDENTS TO COME TO ONE-ON-ONE TUTORING SESSIONS WHERE THEY RECEIVE SUPPORT FROM A CERTIFIED TEACHER AS WELL AS AN ENGLISH-SPEAKING PEER MENTOR. THE STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO WORK ON HOMEWORK, STUDY FOR UPCOMING TESTS, AND ACCESS THE SCHOOL-BASED REPORTING SYSTEM HAC. THE STUDENTS WORK ON SOCIAL SKILLS THAT HELP THEM BUILD RELATIONSHIPS OF COMPASSION AND CARING. SUMMER PROGRAM IS A MONTH-LONG PROGRAM FOR 150 STUDENTS TO RECEIVE ACADEMIC SUPPORT AND SOCIAL SKILLS WHILE EMBRACING THEIR COMMUNITY. LASOS ALSO HAS A YOUNG WOMAN'S GROUP, BUTTERFLIES THAT SERVES 24 GIRLS A YEAR, YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS INSPIRE THAT SERVES ABOUT 60 YOUTH A YEAR, A WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND BARRIER PROGRAMS FOR DISCONNECTED YOUTH THAT SERVES 26 YOUTH A YEAR.
