The 2013 Care Harbor/LA free clinic provided medical, dental, and vision care on-site, prevention education and resources, and follow up care for those who needed it. Medical resources included a 60 station medical triage, 40 exam rooms, sub-specialty areas including cardiology, podiatry, women's health and others, dispensary, medical lab immunizations and screenings, and off-site support including medical and pathology labs. Dental resources included 80 dental chairs, endodontic mobile unit, denture lab, X-ray and sterilization, a separate preventive dentistry section, and an off-site dental pathology lab. Vision resources included 15 vision lanes, two mobile units, slit lamps and other equipment, and two off-site optical labs, and a separate section providing eye health screenings by ophthalmologists for patients not needing vision tests. Prevention resources were provided by 31 participating organizations, with educational exhibits and theatre-style presentations. Subject areas included smoking cessation, nutrition, emergency preparedness, the ACA and health reform, and others. Follow-up was provided by 11 community clinic organizations representing some 32 clinics, with representatives on site at the event to make follow-up appointments for patients. 3,004 patients were provided medical care over a 4 day period. A total of 18,435 procedures were performed including 4,329 dental procedures, 3,525 vision procedures and 9,310 medical procedures such as podiatry services, mammograms, pap smears, immunizations, blood panels and 462 HIV screenings (one positive). 783 patients received prescription medications. 1,355 prescription eye glasses were distributed. 527 patients were given follow-up care. Insurance consultation was introduced at this year's clinic to make patients aware of low cost or no cost coverage available to them under the Affordable Care Act (Covered California) and county programs. 1,271 patients received insurance consultations and information, 288 patients enrolled in an insurance plan.
