The HOAS Community Center continues to serve as a key central resource to the local community. Once a former nightclub and one-time brothel, HOAS has turned the building into a vibrant and positive space that fosters community engagement and community-led change. The Center is where we conduct our musical instrument lessons and art classes; it is where community members come to meet and network; and, thanks to the completion of a new performance stage built by local tradesmen inside the Center, it is where we can now hold community performances, which frequently attract audiences in the hundreds. The Community Center also has newly built bathroom facilities, providing the community with access to some of the only modern, sanitary toilets in the region.
