THIS THREE PRONGED APPROACH HAS RESULTED IN:1) INCREASED PUBLIC AWARENESS AND UNDERSTANDING OF ELEPHANT POACHING AND THE ILLEGAL IVORY TRADE THROUGH VARIOUS EVENTS, PARTNERSHIPS WITH INDUSTRY AND LOCAL COMMUNITIES TO DETER POACHING AND TRAFFICKING OF IVORY OUT OF KENYA2) ENGAGING IN DIALOGUE WITH THE CHINESE COMMUNITY BASED IN KENYA,3) SUPPORTING THE STRENGTHENING OF LAWS AND SENTENCING RELATED TO WILDLIFE CRIME AND DEVELOPING A RAPID REFERENCE GUIDE AND TRAINING FOR THE NEW WILDLIFE ACT IN KENYA FOR USE IN INVESTIGATIONS BY LAW ENFORCEMENT AND THE LEGAL COMMUNITY TO OBTAIN HIGHER CONVICTION RATES.4) SUPPORTING OPERATIONS OF WILDLIFEDIRECT KENYA TO PROVIDE ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES, INCLUDING: DISBURSING FUNDS TO SERVICE PROVIDERS; MONITORING WILDLIFEDIRECT AND PROVIDER AGREEMENTS; OVERSEEING PROJECTS ON THE GROUND; PROVIDING TRAINING TO STAFF; MAINTAINING THE OFFICE OPERATIONS; AND MAINTAINING THE WEBSITE.
