Heal's goal is to integrate and systematize a process for addressing health disparities that are prevalent in children who live in poverty. We believe that these health disparities are a major causal factor that results in academic failure. Heal provides a systematic structure to identify and provide health services to high-risk children to identify barriers to learning. Through its coordinated care for the whole child program, Heal has provided preventative health screenings for over 46,697 students. Heal also provides intensive physical and mental health interventions to children identified as high-risk. Identified students receive intensive multidisciplinary evaluations by educators, school nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, and other educational and health professionals.
