South Oakland Shelter implements housing-first programming that moves people from homelessness to long-term stability. Housing provides the foundation for which individuals and families can access the services and supports needed to succeed. South Oakland Shelter's housing programs provide a combination of rental assistance and intensive in-home case management. During 2018/2019, South Oakland Shelter helped 489 people from within and outside of our shelter obtain and retain housing; of which, South Oakland Shelter provided 120 individuals experience chronic homelessness with permanent supportive housing.
