About this organization
Mission
Our mission is to inspire discovery in children and families of all backgrounds in our community. That is supported by our vision to be the educational, civic cornerstone that strengthens families and builds connections across communities. The Neighborhood House of Milwaukee inspires discovery in children and families of all backgrounds, encouraging lifelong learning and confident leadership. Founded in 1945, as community center for urban youth, families and seniors, our programming expanded to include award winning early childcare, after school programs for youth and teens, adult education for refugees, parenting support and environmental education for families and school districts throughout Milwaukee’s metropolitan area.
About
The Early Childhood Service (ECS) Program: The goal of the ECS program is to develop and support high quality, community and family-focused early childhood education. In 2018/2019, the program served 181 infants and children between the ages of six weeks to eleven years. Infants and children participate in multi-disciplinary activities that enhance early brain development and cognitive skills. In a new State of Wisconsin review completed in spring 2019, our ECS program again earned a top YoungStar 5 rating from the State of Wisconsin, placing it in the top 6% of preschool programs in the Milwaukee area. The program continues to operate under the prestigious Early Headstart Partnership Program, under the coordination of our partners at Next Door.
