SEPTEMBER 13TH WAS OUR DAY OF CARING. THE UNITED WAY'S ANNUAL KICKOFF HAD 960 VOLUNTEERS TACKLE FIFTY-TWO PROJECTS. THESE VOLUNTEERS LOGGED 4,554 HOURS OF VOLUNTEER TIME, WHICH YIELDED $109,296 OF COMMUNITY IMPACT. THE EVENT WAS SUPPORTED WITH $18,600 IN CORPORATE SPONSORSHIPS, ALONG WITH IN KIND SPONSORSHIPS FROM SARGENTO, JOHNSONVILLE, TEXAS ROADHOUSE, KWIK TRIP, LAKESIDE PEPSI, SHEBOYGAN A'S, AND TORKE COFFEE. HARVEST FOR THE HUNGRY SERVED OVER 1,100 MEALS AND CONTINUES TO BE A GREAT EVENT TO HELP SUPPORT THE FOOD BANK AND THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM.THE FOURTH ANNUAL SPIRIT AWARDS AT BREAKING BREAD TREATED 185 GUESTS AND THERE WERE SEVEN AWARDS PRESENTED TO DESERVING RECIPIENTS. THIS YEAR SAW A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF NOMINATIONS TOTALING EIGHTY-FIVE, UP FROM FORTY-TWO LAST YEAR.THE UNITED WAY OF SHEBOYGAN COUNTY INVESTED $2,200,000 TO FORTY-ONE PROGRAMS AND TWO FOCUS AREAS, WHICH BENEFITTED MANY PEOPLE IN SHEBOYGAN COUNTY. THIS PAST YEAR WAS THE HIGHEST AMOUNT EVER INVESTED BY UNITED WAY OF SHEBOYGAN COUNTY.THE WELCOME BABY PROGRAM HAS NOW REACHED THE 1,000 BABY VISIT THRESHOLD. THE PROGRAM CONTINUES TO FLOURISH, AND IS RECEIVING POSITIVE FEEDBACK FROM PARENTS, HOSPITALS AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP FOR CHILDREN MEMBERS.THE FIRST PARENT CAFE SERIES WAS HELD IN FALL OF 2018 WITH TWENTY-FIVE PARENTS AND THIRTY-FOUR CHILDREN ATTENDING. TWENTY-SIX PARENTS AND THIRTY-FOUR CHILDREN, FIFTEEN PARENTS AND THIRTY CHILDREN ATTENDED THE SPRING CAFES.IN THE PAST YEAR, DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENINGS HAVE EXPANDED TO SHEBOYGAN FALLS AND OOSTBURG, IN ADDITION TO PLYMOUTH AND SHEBOYGAN.THE PROVIDING ACCESS TO HEALING PROGRAM INCREASED THE NUMBER OF DAYS OF SERVICE FROM TEN TO FORTY-TWO DURING THE 2018-19 FISCAL YEAR. LAKESHORE COMMUNITY HEALTH CARE BECAME THE SECOND AGENCY TO PROVIDE THERAPY SERVICES TO THE YOUTH OF THE COUNTY.NEW BOARD MEMBERS: CHRIS SCHRAMM JOINS THE UNITED WAY BOARD BEGINNING IN MAY 2019. GARY TESELLE AND LINSEY RICK HAVE BEEN NOMINATED TO JOIN THE BOARD AND WILL BE VOTED ON AT THE MAY 2019 MEETING. ANDREA HOLSCHBACK JOINS THE HUMAN RESOURCE COMMITTEE. JOHN EHMANN, CEARRA WARNE, AND PAUL CARLSEN ARE POISED TO JOIN THE COMMITTEE AFTER A VOTE AT THE MAY BOARD MEETING. THE STAFF AND BOARD COLLABORATED WITH ERIN PRICE FROM SARGENTO TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT THE 2018-21 STRATEGIC PLAN. JERRY JONES AND DAVID BOLLAND COLLABORATED TO CO-CHAIR THE UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN, WHICH RAISED NEARLY $2,750,000. THIS IS $300,000 OVER THE GOAL OF $2,450,000. AFTER NINETEEN YEARS OF SERVICE, RICK REISS RETIRED AS OUR CAMPAIGN COORDINATOR. THE UNITED WAY HAS HIRED CORISSA FRANK AS THE DIRECTOR OF MAJOR GIFTS TAKING ON THE ROLE OF SECURING GRANTS, MAJOR GIFTS, AND WORKING WITH KATELYN ON THE CAMPAIGN. THE UNITED WAY SELECTED COLLEEN STEINBRUECKER AS THE COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP FOR CHILDREN COORDINATOR ASSUMING THE ROLE OF OVERSEEING THE WELCOME BABY PROGRAM, DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENINGS, AND THE PARENT CAFES. GINA COVELLI JOINED THE STAFF OF UNITED WAY AFTER FIVE YEARS OF SERVICE ON THE UNITED WAY BOARD OF DIRECTORS. GINA WILL SERVE AS THE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY IMPACT UTILIZING HER SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE TO IMPROVE ON AN ALREADY STRONG PROCESS.
