Mission
IndependenceFirst is a non-profit agency directed by, and for the benefit of, people with disabilities. We primarily serve the four county metro Milwaukee, Wisconsin area but four of our programs have impact statewide. Our mission is to effectively facilitate the empowerment of people with disabilities through education, advocacy, independent living services, and coalition building. IndependenceFirst promotes diversity and multicultural participation in its operations and services. We are consumer-directed, with over 51% of our staff, managers and board having disabilities themselves. We offer services to individuals across all disabilities -- whether physical, mental/emotional, cognitive, hearing or visual -- and in all age groups.
About
Personal assistance services provide personal care services at home for individuals with disabilities with RN supervision and case management for participants. These services assist persons with disabilities to remain independent in the community rather than be forced to move into an institutional setting.
