About

The 2018 year was a productive and positive year. We continued to see success in the ministry of the individuals enrolled in our program, had an impact on the lives of those in our community and reached out to the elderly and young. As in other years, our main focus was the people that are in the program. With a high of 60 individuals enrolled, twenty-nine (29) people completed the one-year program of study and service. During this period people were entering the program while others were either graduating or simply leaving because the platform was not for them. We say that to emphasize the fact that we were touching many more than just sixty (60) people's lives during the year. There were thirty-six (36) Individuals that accepted Christ as their personal savior and were baptized in 2018. With that said, we need to explain that not all that leave the House of Hope as graduates go into society and become successful individuals. In 2018 we had fifteen (15) that, because of their addiction, asked to return. For these individuals we allow for a ninety (90) day period to reset their lives and then let them return to society. Some stay longer so it just depends on their progress. Our community work continues as we get our people out and serving. As an example, we are involved in maintaining the grounds of three(3) cemeteries in and around Madisonville/Madison County. Approximately five (5) to seven (7) people are used to help cowboy churches with their roping events and other odd jobs related to the pens and cattle. The Path of Lights is an annual First Baptist Church function in the month of December that requires lots of help setting up, cleaning up and tearing down all the props used. During that time ten (10) or so of our people are involved in that ministry for about three (3) weeks. We also provide moving help for families that are relocating and that involves four (4) to six (6) people. In 2018 we helped fourteen (14) families in that endeavor. There are many other activities that we help with but too many to list.An outreach to our elderly and pre-kendergarden children was busy in 2018. In that ministry we offer services like painting, small repairs and other projects that the elderly can't do on their own. In addition, we provide repairs, maintenance, lawn care and janitorial services for Head-Start, an early learning program for children ages birth to five for low-income families. Finally, the process of being involved in all these activities takes a large amount of effort and dedication. We also must work on the needs of the people we're trying to help. They generally have probation meetings that must be made, court appearances and in some cases a job to get to. If you notices that our vehicle repairs and maintenance expense was high, that's because we have older vehicles that are used to move people and they breakdown. Some of the work is done by those in the program and some of it has to be done by professional mechanics. In all, we are making an impact in the community and have experienced a fantastic amount of support from them.
