(CAVT) STEWARDS TWO HISTORIC HOMES AND THEIR ART COLLECTIONS, BEQUEATHED TO THE CITIZENS OF MILWAUKEE BY THEIR ORIGINAL OWNERS - CHARLES AND SARAH ALLIS AND AGNES SMITH CURTIS - TO EDUCATE, INSPIRE AND DELIGHT. BOTH FAMILIES PLAYED PROMINENT ROLES IN THE EARLY DEVELOPMENT OF MILWAUKEE'S INDUSTRIAL, ARTISTIC AND CIVIC LIFE. BOTH HOMES ARE LISTED ON THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES, AND ARE DESIGNATED BY THE CITY OF MILWAUKEE, MILWAUKEE COUNTY, AND NUMEROUS ARTS AND CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS FOR THEIR CONTINUED SIGNIFICANCE TO MILWAUKEE'S HISTORIC, CULTURAL AND ARTISTIC LIFE. THROUGH INTERPRETATION OF THESE HOMES AND THEIR COLLECTIONS, AND THROUGH COLLABORATION WITH THE COMMUNITY, CAVT INC. IN 2018, CAVT MOUNTED THE FOLLOWING EXHIBITIONS AT THE VILLA TERRACE DECORATIVE ARTS MUSEUM: FOLD: ARTIST ACCORDION BOOKS (FEATURING 68 LOCAL, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL ARITSTS), LOOK HERE! (A COLLABORATION WITH UW-MILWAUKEE LIBRARY'S SPECIAL COLLECTIONS AND REDLINE GALLERY), AND HOUSE OF RISK (AN IMMERSIVE INSTALLATION EXPLORING THE TEXTURES AND HISTORIES OF THE VILLA TERRACE). IN 2018, CAVT MOUNTED THE FOLLOWING EXHIBITIONS AT THE CHARLES ALLIS ART MUSEUM: CLANDESTINE POSSESSIONS AND FAMILY TIME (FEATURING 2016 FORWARD GRAND PRIZE WINNER JAMES PEDERSON), INSPIRING CHANGE: THE PHOTOGRAPHY OF CHIP DUNCAN AND MOHAMED AMIN (FEATURING THE WORK OF INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED AUTHOR, PHOTOGRAPHER, AND FILMMAKER CHIP DUNCAN ALONGSIDE ACCLAIMED AFRICAN PHOTOGRAPHER MOHAMED AMIN (1943-96), AND FORWARD: A SURVEY OF WISCONSIN ART NOW (JURIED BY ARIEL PATE, ASSOCIATE CURATOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY AT THE MILWAUKEE ART MUSEUM AND FAYTHE LEVINE, ASSOCIATE CURATOR AT THE JOHN MICHAEL KOHLER ART CENTER).
