About
In 2019, Ignite Afterschool took steps to expand partnerships into the Youth Employment Program space. Ignite launched the Youth Employment Program Community of Practice and facilitated over four meetings for five regional youth employment program partners to coordinate and share challenges and successes. Ignite Afterschool acted as project manager for Propel SEL, a collaborative Initiative which brought together afterschool intermediaries, trainers, and afterschool program providers to better understand SEL needs, infuse SEL into youth programs, and look at SEL through an equity and identity lens. 21 youth serving organizations completed the year-long Propel SEL learning cohort process in February 2019, each receiving a $2,000 stipend to implement SEL next steps in their organization. Ignite captured key activities. learnings, themes and recommendations from the partnered initiative and released a final report, Flipping The Script: A New Way to Do, See, and Understand Social Emotional Learning. Ignite Afterschool also led a process with partners to expand the scope of the organization's policy platform and released an expanded platform that showed how a number of policy efforts could positively impact young people's access to high quality afterschool and summer learning programs. In addition, Ignite Afterschool supported 405 people from over 90 organizations to engage in continuous program improvement by supporting 17 Making Meaning with Multiple Data Set (M3) Huddles across the state. Ignite also trained 15 new M3 Huddle Process facilitators to ensure that more afterschool programs can access this important process.
