About this organization
Mission
Bridges to Independence leads individuals and families out of homelessness and into stable, independent futures.
About
Our programs give families the skills and stability they need to build a brighter future. Sullivan House, Bridges' emergency shelter is Arlington County's largest emergency shelter. Sullivan House provides individuals and families with a safe, supportive place to stay. Our number one priority is to ensure each families episode of homelessness is brief and non-recurring. More than a residential shelter, Bridges offers intensive case management and training in the following areas: Financial Empowerment, Employment Services and Youth Development programs. After a stay of 3-6 months, Sullivan House participants are transitioned into Bridges' rapid re-housing program, or permanent housing program. This program provides rapid access from shelter to permanent housing for families. While in rapid rehousing, families receive a short-term rent subsidy to ensure stability. Families will continue to receive services and support through Bridges' programs in youth development, financial literacy and employment services for up to two years to ensure they are able to remain securely housed and do not fall into homelessness again.
