Mission

One Family aims to prevent homelessness and break the cycle of family poverty in Massachusetts by promoting pathways to economic independence through advocacy, education and innovation. We envision a Commonwealth where all families have secure housing, access to education leading to employment, and the ability to build assets to create a brighter future. One Family believes that if policies are focused on prevention and programs are designed to promote opportunities, then we can end family homelessness in Massachusetts.

About

The One Family Scholars Program (OFS) supports single parents who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, helping them to graduate from college in order to achieve career and housing stability. The program provides one-on-one coaching and guidance along with flexible financial aid, and the combination yields incredible results: One Family Scholars graduate from college at a rate of 79%, compared to only 28% for single mothers nationwide. This leads to long-term career success, asset-building, and housing stability, as evidenced by the fact that 91% of OFS alumni now have secure housing.
