About
The Gainesville Orchestra is Gainesville's only professional orchestra. We have five concerts each year (to generally sold out audiences). We also have an annual children's concert where we bus in 1,700 area school children to see their first live orchestra concert. We also perform by invitation in St. Augustine for the prestigious Emma Concert Series. We are starting our 36th season with the best reviews and ticket sales in our history. Every year we have Broadway singers who perform with our orchestra for a very special audience experience. At our pops concert each year we invite the audience to walk through the orchestra while they are performing to experience the sounds right there on stage. It's a very popular event. We also invite prominent local artist to paint a portrait on stage while the orchestra plays. She starts with a blank canvas at the beginning of the concert and finishes it before the end of the concert. Disney chose Gainesville Orchestra to be the first orchestra in the world to perform the music from 'Frozen,', this was a tribute to our musical director Evans Haile as well as the reputation our orchestra has built.
