Camp Seale Harris is a comprehensive diabetes support program that served a total of 2382 people in 2019 including 676 children with diabetes ages 0-19 in 16 different program sites located throughout Alabama and North Florida. Program service sessions included: 7 residential camps, 5 day camps, and 13 community events teaching children and families how to live well with diabetes. Participants received health education, diabetes care skills, medical oversite, medications, networking and emotional support. Outcomes included participants' improved independence in diabetes care skills, knowledge and psychosocial well-being including: dosing insulin, counting carbohydrates and treating high and low blood glucose levels.
