Mission

His House Children’s Home is a faith-based not-for-profit social services agency whose mission is to restore the lives of children and families. Established in 1989, the organization provides services to children removed from their homes due to substance abuse by the parents, domestic violence, all types of maltreatment and other circumstances, which have placed children at risk of harm. In 1996, the agency received a Child Placement Agency license in order to provide foster care services and since 2008, His House has been contracted with the Office of Refugee Resettlement to provide residential care, case management and clinical services to Unaccompanied Children entering the United States.

THROUGHOUT THE YEAR 2018-2019, HIS HOUSE CHILDREN'S HOME (HHCH) RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM HAS SERVED 370 CHILDREN AND RECEIVED 343 INTAKES. HHCH RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM HAS WORKED CLOSELY WITH THE FULL CASE MANAGEMENT AGENCIES (FCMA) AND LEAD COMMUNITY BASED CARE AGENCY (CBC) TO MEET THROUGH A STRONG COLLABORATION THE NEEDS OF CHILDREN. IN DADE COUNTY THERE IS A LACK OF FOSTER HOMES SPECIFICALLY IN THE NORTHERN AREA OF THE COUNTY, WHICH IS THE AREA HHCH SERVES. WE HAVE PROVIDED OUR REGION THE ABILITY TO MAINTAIN SIBLINGS TOGETHER AND CHILDREN IN THEIR COMMUNITIES, AT TIMES IN THEIR HOME SCHOOL, WHICH HAS PROVIDED THE CHILDREN WITH THE ABILITY TO MAINTAIN COMMUNITY AND EDUCATIONAL TIES. WE HAVE EXPANDED OUR INDEPENDENT LIVING PROGRAM AND SERVICES, AS WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ESTABLISH PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIPS WITH COMMUNITY BUSINESS OWNERS AND COMPANIES TO SECURE INTERNSHIPS AND JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE CHILDREN IN OUR CARE. WE HAVE ALSO ESTABLISHED A STRONG RELATIONSHIP WITH REGION BANK WHO HAS PROVIDED OUR CHILDREN FINANCIAL LITERACY, MONEY MANAGEMENT EDUCATION, AND OPEN BANK ACCOUNTS. OUR CLINICAL DEPARTMENT HAS ALSO EXPANDED; WE WERE ABLE TO BRING ONBOARD TWO MORE CLINICIANS GIVING US THE OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE MORE CHILDREN. WE HAVE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH SEVERAL BUSINESS OWNERS THAT HAVE ALLOTTED FREE SLOTS FOR OUR CHILDREN SUCH AS KARATE CLASSES, FISHING AND COMPUTER PROGRAMING. THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH BARRY UNIVERSITY, WE WERE ABLE TO SECURE MULTIPLE COMPUTERS FOR ALL OF OUR HOMES GIVING THE CHILDREN THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET THEIR EDUCATIONAL DEMANDS. WE HAVE PARTNERSHIPS WITH SEVERAL CHURCHES IN THE COMMUNITY AND THROUGHOUT MIAMI WHO HAVE SELECTED HIS HOUSE AS THEIR ORGANIZATION OF CHOICE TO HELP RESTORE THE LIVES OF CHILDREN BY BRINGING ACTIVITIES FOR THE CHILDREN TO HEAL, ENJOY AND GROW. OUR KIDS KEEPER'S PROGRAM HAS BROUGHT ADDITIONAL FUNDS TO HELP CHILDREN CREATE MEMORIES AND PROVIDE ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL NOT PROVIDED WITH THE BASIC CARE. HHCH RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM ALSO RECEIVED FROM A GENEROUS DONOR IN THE COMMUNITY FUNDS TO PROVIDE CHILDREN AGING OUT OF OUR CARE A STARTUP KIT OF ESSENTIAL ITEMS TO SET THEM UP TO A GREAT START AS A YOUNG ADULT. THESE FUNDS HAVE PROVIDED YOUNG TEEN MOTHERS AND OTHERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE ITEMS THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO AFFORD. HHCH RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM HAS IMPACTED THE COMMUNITY AS IT HAS BROUGHT MORE AWARENESS OF WHAT WE DO AND WHAT OUR MISSION IS. WE HAVE RE-ESTABLISHED RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE SCHOOLS IN OUR AREA IN EFFORTS TO ADVOCATE FOR OUR CHILDREN AND ENSURE THEIR EDUCATIONAL NEEDS ARE MET. WE HAVE MET WITH SCHOOL PRINCIPALS IN OUR AREA TO EDUCATE THEM ON WHO WE ARE, THE POPULATION WE SERVE AND HOW WE CA COLLABORATE AND WORK TOGETHER TO APPROPRIATELY SERVE THE CHILDREN.
