Education - The Discover the Flyway program uses a variety of methods to educate students, teachers and the general public on the value of and the issues surrounding wetlands preservation. Volunteer docents and staff conduct field trips, workshops, lectures and school programs. The foundation served 3,461 K-12 students from 48 schools in Yolo, Solano, Sacramento, Placer, and El Dorado counties. Students from 64 low-income Title 1 classes were able to attend a Discover the Flyway field trip through bus grants provided by the Yolo Basin Foundation. Volunteers donated over 9,000 hours in support of foundation programs.
