Mission

The Center for NYC Neighborhoods (“the Center”) promotes and protects affordable homeownership in New York so that middle- and working-class families are able to build strong, thriving communities. Established by public and private partners, the Center meets the diverse needs of homeowners throughout New York State by offering free, high-quality housing services.

About

Sandy recovery and flood resiliency: The Center for New York City Neighborhoods provides case management and temporary housing services specifically dedicated to Hurricane Sandy impacted homeowners. A major component of these services are provided as part of the New York City Build It Back (BIB) program run by the mayors office of housing recovery (HRO) and uses federal community development block grant disaster recovery funds to assist homeowners recovering from Superstorm Sandy. In partnership with the governors office of storm recovery, through floodhelpny.org all New York City homeowners can determine their flood risk and obtain a home resiliency audit, an elevation certificate and other related services.
