Mission
The Y is a leading nonprofit organization for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Established in 1890, the Whatcom Family YMCA is our community's longest operating human service agency and strives to enhance people's lives with programs for the spirit, mind, and body. With four locations—downtown Bellingham, Ferndale, Lynden, and Barkley—our reach is large, our members are diverse, and we aim to make our life-changing programs accessible to all. Together, we give seniors purpose, educate teens in leadership, improve literacy, support cancer survivors in their recovery, provide dignity to the homeless, and so much more. Our purpose is to strengthen the foundations of our community, and everything we do is grounded in this goal.
