Mission

Prison Pet Partnership (PPP) enriches the lives of inmates, homeless animals and the community through the human-animal bond. PPP trains rescue and purpose-bred dogs as service, therapy and companion animals. PPP also operates a boarding and grooming facility to provide vocational education to incarcerated women. When women release from prison, PPP assists with job placement and provides scholarships to former participants who wish to further their knowledge in the animal care industry.

About

In the past year the vocational education program employed 21 women. Of the 21 women employed by the program, 10 worked in our kennel facility caring for over 11,000 dogs and cats from July 2018 to June 2019. PPP's average occupancy rate for the kennel was 113%. PPP grooming program employed 8 groomers who bathed and groomed 2,567 dogs and cats. In December of 2018 a PPP groomer released to Pierce County. Prior to her release she completed 2 of 3 certification tracks through the International Professional Groomers Inc. Her certifications include certified salon professional, certified professional groomer, and certified advanced professional groomer. PPP hosted an employer from the community to interview her while still incarcerated and she gained full time employment upon release.
