In 2019, the Charlotte Maxwell Clinic (CMC) continued its mission of improving health outcomes and helping to reduce health care disparities among low-income women with cancer by providing free access to integrative medicine services in a safe and nurturing environment. Early in the year, CMC relocated to a more efficient, light-filled, healing space. Overall, it registered 48 new referrals for the year and served an average of 227 clients each month. This would not have been possible without a highly responsive network of 160 certified and dedicated volunteer practitioners (recruited quarterly, culturally oriented and retained over the years) providing a range of complementary therapies, such as acupuncture, herbs, therapeutic massage, guided imagery, nutrition and exercise counseling, and more. Also, the Board of Directors welcomed five new members and after incumbent President retired, elected a new slate of officers.
