Mission

The mission of Travelers Aid is providing connections and solutions that prevent or address crisis. Travelers Aid fulfills its mission statement through both Social Services, whereby individuals and families receive critical services tailored to their specific needs, and through Visitor Services whereby business and leisure travelers are assisted with information about San Diego, its resources, accommodations, and attractions, as well as help with locating friends and relatives. Special needs travelers, such as the elderly, persons with disabilities, runaways, and foreign visitors are assisted every day by our volunteers and case managers.

About

Crisis Assistance includes referrals for placement in shelters for single women and families with children assistance to victims of domestic violence, including out-of-County transportation to places of support and safety in a program called Family Reunification and providing bus passes and day passes to chronically homeless clients for verified medical or employment appointments. The organization also runs a SenioRide program to assist low-income seniors 60 with a variety of transportation options including taxi-cabs, senior bus passes, door-to-door transit services, and ride-sharing or volunteer drivers to allow seniors to age in place while combating the isolation that may accompany the choice to stay in their own homes. In a program called Moving Up, the organization offers employment assistance tools such as transportation, help with obtaining identification, and resume assistance.
