About this organization
Mission
YMF is fundamentally dedicated to social and restorative justice. We believe that every student – every person – should have access to the numerous, profound, and well-documented lifelong benefits that music and media arts education provides.
About
Teaching Artists Program - YMF's service area and number of students served nearly tripled from 1,400 students at 13 schools and sites in the beginning of the 2017-18 academic year to 3,400 students at 25 schools and sites across Greater Los Angeles by the end of the academic year. In October 2017 YMF created the Music Heals Program for the formerly gang-involved recently incarcerated men and women at the largest gang-prevention organization in the United States. YMF also operates a neighborhood orchestra, a tuition-free program open to students in grades 1-12.
