Mission

Of more than 53,000 individuals experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles County, families make up around 34%. Of these families, 84% are headed by single mothers, with 1 in 20 whom are pregnant and lacking adequate care. Elizabeth House addresses an unmet community need by providing shelter and comprehensive care for pregnant women and their children experiencing homelessness. We recognize the immediate and long term toll the trauma of homelessness takes on pregnant women and their children, and we envision a world where cycles of trauma are broken and all families have the opportunity to thrive. Since 1994, we have made it our mission that, through shelter and lifelong support, we empower pregnant and parenting mothers in need to reclaim their lives and build successful family legacies.
