Mission

Careity exists to provide direct care that saves lives, gives hope, eases pain, and allows cancer patients and families to focus on healing.

About

Individualized programs and services for the cancer patient. Cancer patients and their families confront a myriad of needs, from medical care to psychological, spiritual and emotional issues. Each patient faces a unique set of needs. Careity Foundation helps to identify specific needs and provide individualized care through supportive clinical services. Impactful programs and beneficial services are provided by Careity Foundation. Nutritional counseling and supplements, a trained dietician and personalized nutrition plan assist each cancer patient with the weight and nutrition issues that are often caused by chemotherapy, hormonal therapy and radiation therapy. Community awareness programs and outreach have opened the Careity Breast Care Center Circle of Care treatment with the goal of having a complete treatment plan within 72 hours rather than multiple meetings over weeks with different specialists. Clinical trials: when possible, cancer patients are given access to clinical trials. Psychotherapy counseling: dealing with the emotional issues related to cancer diagnosis, anxiety, grief, stress, anger and fear. Pain management: pain, anxiety and drug sensitivities can complicate or intensify the rigor of cancer treatment. Acupuncture and oncology massage, natural treatments for pain and anxiety, ease the patient's journey through treatment. Training and education: a cancer diagnosis thrusts caregivers and patients into a complicated and expensive world of medical protocols, diagnostic tests, and more. Resources and support provide urgent information and caring guidance. CancerGuide navigation: developed by the Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington, D.C., the CancerGuide program provides reliable information on complementary and alternative (CAM) therapies. A CancerGuide explains options and provides information about therapies and treatments, during and after cancer treatment. Chaplain services: available for counseling and comfort for all of our patients. All programs and services are provided by licensed and/or accredited professionals. In almost all cases, services are not covered by insurance, or are cost-prohibitive. Careity Foundation believes that these services are essential to effective care for all cancer patients. Direct patient services: 1. Over 7,250 cancer patient visits 2. 800 gas cards @ $25 each 3. Over 900 mammograms, diagnostics, biopsies, and surgical 4. 1,500 patients helped with dietary and nutritional services 5. 2,500 patient services for psychotherapy, social worker and chaplain.
