About

HVSF makes its home under a specially designed, 540-seat, open-air tent theater on the grounds of historic Boscobel House and Gardens on the banks of the Hudson River. In 2018, HVSF presented five shows in repertory - Shakespeare's 'Richard II,' directed by HVSF Artistic Director, Davis McCallum; Shakespeare's 'The Taming of the Shrew,' directed by Shana Cooper; the New York premiere of a new adaptation of the Robin Hood story called 'The Heart of Robin Hood' by David Farr and directed by Suzanne L. Agins, and a world premiere commission by HVSF 'Rip Van Winkle; Or, Cut the Old Moon into Stars', written and directed by Seth Bockley, which was staged as a 'Full Circle' community engagement production with four professional actors and over forty community members participating on stage, in the band, and backstage. It was also a part of our HVStories initiative showcasing stories about the people and culture of the Hudson Valley. HVSF completed another year of its 20-week Conservatory Company acting training program for seven post-graduate students which included the opportunity to play roles in the season, dedicated courses and training, and a devised production entitled 'The Sea Maid's Music' directed by Zachary Fine which toured to venues throughout the Hudson Valley. In total, these core programs reached over 37,000 people.
