About

Research: HousingWorks' research is focused on equity and geographic disparities in affordability. In 2014, HousingWorks first developed our first annual city council district by district analysis of housing facts highlighting affordability issues facing Austin area as a whole and each city council district. In 2018, HousingWorks updated that research, which identifies Austin's poverty rate, median family income, average rent per month, median home price, number of homeless on the street, number of subsidized affordable housing units, the percentage of renter vs owners by district, the percentage of individuals that are cost burdened and the average annual mass transit trips taken citywide. The Research can be found on our website at http://housingworksaustin.org. In 2018, additional research was started on employer assisted housing, workforce development and affordability, and leveraging private sector funding in preserving and building affordable housing. Research was also released that identifies "Who Needs Housing that's Affordable" which identifies jobs that fall in the Families Below Poverty Level to Moderate Income Families.
